We love getting to know artists and bands better, and what easier way to discover more about a band, than getting them to come up with a mood board of their favourite things and inspirations?
Today we chat to the Southend foursome, Youth Club, whose second EP, ‘Brothers’ was released earlier this year. With a sound reminiscent of Two Door Cinema Club, Youth Club first caught the attention of many when their debut EP ‘Colours’ charted at No.7 on the iTunes alternative chart; the first unsigned Essex band to officially chart right next to Adele.
Here they share some personal highlights, from life on the road to playing a packed-out KOKO. You can see they’ve made massive progress in just a few years, and their journeys have only just begun.

The Early Days
These hilarious photos were taken one night three or four years ago. Back then we were just four mates (yet to grow our hair out) who wanted to write music that we felt passionately about. After 6 months or so we realised that we had something special going and decided it was time to release some music and start gigging, and weʼve never looked back since.
Best music video – ‘People’
This was so much fun to film. We had a lot of friends and family involved and the talented Matt Connell, who filmed and directed the video, somehow managed to make our hometown of Southend on a cold and windy October evening to look like Miami; well, almost. We loved the hand on approach we got from working with Matt and was chuffed with the results.

Playing Radio 1ʼs Big Weekend 2015
This was an amazing experience and definitely a highlight, making us even more hungry and motivated to tour as much as possible. Festival season is our favourite time of year and we can’t wait for 2016.
Touring
Now signed to Lab Records, their new track ‘Pressure/DTLA’ is available to download from November 20th. Currently on tour across the UK, the lads finish their tour with a final live show in Bath @ Moles on December 10th.
